Hello Families,

I hope you are enjoying this snowy January! The children have been doing a great job of remembering to wear their snow clothes. Please continue to label all clothing, even gloves, as our lost and found grows everyday. Next week children will need to wear snow clothes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. I would love to have volunteers on Wednesday afternoon to help put the skis on the kiddos. Even if you don’t ski, your help just getting them into the skis would be so wonderful and appreciated. We will be skiing at school from 12:50-2:00.

The class has been having great fun with the January perk ups, as well as learning about

Arctic and Antarctic animals and their adaptations. In Math they are learning about tens and ones and how to compare numbers. I will send home some of the games we have been playing so you can play these at home if you wish.

The students are becoming more fluent readers daily. They are increasingly engaged in the text and are able to understand and apply what they are reading. I will be sending home flashcards with some of the children who may need to work on their sight words. These sight words really help the children read grade level appropriate text, and a lot of the words are not decodable. They therefore need to be reinforced frequently. Your help in this will make a big difference in the success of your child’s reading. The benchmark for the end of the second trimester in March is 100 sight words for first graders.

The busses are having a difficult time because parents are jamming up the upper parking lot. PLEASE do not drop off your child in the upper parking lot unless there is an empty 10 minute slot open. The lower parking lot usually has plenty of spaces for you to use. Thank you so much for your consideration in this matter.

Hola Familias,

¡Espero que estén disfrutando de este nevado enero! Los niños han estado haciendo un gran trabajo de acordarse de llevarse a su ropa de nieve. Por favor, continúe para etiquetar toda la ropa, incluso guantes, ya que nuestro perdidos crece día a día. La próxima semana los niños tendrán que llevar ropa de nieve el martes, miércoles y jueves para caminar en las raquetas de nieve y esquiar atraves del campo. Me encantaría tener voluntarios el miércoles por la tarde para ayudar a poner los esquís en los niños. Incluso si usted no esquía, su ayuda simplemente conseguir que en los esquís sería tan maravilloso y apreciado. Vamos a esquiar en la escuela a partir de 12: 50-2: 00.

La clase ha estado teniendo una gran diversión con los January perk ups, así como aprender acerca de los animales del Ártico y Antártida y sus adaptaciones. En matemáticas, están aprendiendo acerca de decenas y unidades y cómo comparar números. Voy a enviar a casa algunos de los juegos que han estado jugando para que pueda jugar estos en casa si lo desea.

Los estudiantes están leyendo con más fluidez diariamente. Ellos se dedican cada vez más en el texto y son capaces de entender y aplicar lo que están leyendo. Estaré enviando tarjetas caseras con algunos de los niños que puedan necesitar para trabajar en sus palabras a la vista. Estas palabras de vista realmente ayudan a los niños a leer el texto de nivel de grado apropiado, y una gran cantidad de las palabras no son descifrables. Por lo tanto, deben ser reforzadas con frecuencia. Su ayuda en esto hará una gran diferencia en el éxito de la lectura de su hijo. El punto de referencia para el final del segundo trimestre en marzo es de 100 palabras de uso frecuente para los alumnos de primer grado.

Los autobuses están teniendo un trabajo difícil porque los padres se atascan hasta el estacionamiento superior. POR FAVOR no dejar a su hijo en el estacionamiento superior a menos que haya una ranura de 10 minutos vacío abierto. El estacionamiento inferior por lo general tiene un montón de espacios para que usted utilice. Muchas gracias por su atención en este asunto.
