Hello Families!

We sure had a great week traveling to the Truckee Airport to engage in a variety of hands on Science activities put on by the Kidzone Museum. One of the children’s favorite stations was the live animal station. This man with the animals will be at the Kidzone in Truckee this Saturday at 10:00 am if any of you are interested. The Kidzone also has a selection of summer programs and camps - some free, and they wanted you to know that you can call them for more information if you are interested.

We also had a super time releasing our precious Lahontan Cutthroat Trout fry at Common’s Beach on Thursday. Thanks so much to the parents who accompanied us on this fun excursion.

We will be performing our 1st grade play, Biomes, for school classes next Wednesday at 10:30, next Thursday at 9:00, and for the parents next Thursday at 11:15. If you can’t make it to the parent performance, you are welcome to attend one of the school performances. The talent show will be on Friday.

Children are encouraged, but not required, to do a Science Fair project for the Science Fair which will be held the same night as Open House, Tuesday, June 7th. Your children are excited to share with you all their learning from first grade, so I hope to see all of you then.

There will not be any other homework sent home. This will be the last week for green bags, so please start searching your house for any classroom books to return. If your child would like to bring home books for the rest of the year, they may check those out with me as long as they are returned by the last day of school. I encourage all of you to help your child maintain the incredible growth they have made in reading this year by attending the library program on Wednesdays at school, and also by continuing to read daily over the summer. This is such a critical time for your child’s reading development, and it must be maintained by regular practice. I encourage you to visit the local Tahoe City and King’s Beach Libraries. If you need books, don’t hesitate to email me, and I can arrange a loan of books for your child to take home over the summer. They may also continue their work in RazKids. Hola familias!

Desde luego que tuvimos una gran semana para ir al aeropuerto Truckee para participar en una variedad de actividades prácticas de ciencias organizados por el Museo Kidzone. Una de las estaciones favoritos de los niños fue la estación de animaesl viviendo. Este hombre con los animales estará en el Kidzone en Truckee este sábado a las 10:00 am, si alguno de ustedes está interesado. El Kidzone también tiene una variedad de programas de verano y campamentos - algunos gratuitos, y que quería que sepan que les puede llamar para obtener más información si está interesado.

También tuvimos un tiempo estupendo liberar nuestros preciosos alevines de trucha de Lahontan en la playa de común el jueves. Muchas gracias a los padres que nos acompañaron en esta divertida excursión.

Vamos a realizar nuestro obra del teatro de 1er grado, Biomas, para las clases escolares el próximo miércoles a las 10:30, el próximo jueves a las 9:00, y para los padres el próximo jueves a las 11:15. Si no puede asistir a la actuación de los padres, que son bienvenidos a asistir a una de las presentaciones de la escuela. El programa de talentos será el viernes.

Los niños son animados, pero no es necesario, para hacer un proyecto de ciencias para la Feria de Ciencias que tendrá lugar la misma noche de la casa abierta, martes, 7 de junio. Sus hijos están contentos de compartir con ustedes todo su aprendizaje desde el primer grado, por lo que esperan ver a todos ustedes a continuación.

No habrá ninguna otra tarea enviado a casa. Esta será la última semana para las bolsas verdes, así que por favor empieza a buscar en su casa por cualquier libro de aula para volver. Si su hijo le gustaría llevar a casa libros para el resto del año, se pueden comprobar ésos hacia fuera conmigo, siempre y cuando se devuelven por el último día de clases. Animo a todos ustedes para ayudar a su hijo a mantener el increíble crecimiento que han hecho en la lectura de este año, asistiendo al programa de la biblioteca de los miércoles en la escuela, y también por continuar la lectura diaria durante el verano. Este es un momento tan crítico para el desarrollo de la lectura de su hijo, y debe ser mantenida por la práctica regular. Les animo a visitar las bibliotecas locales de Tahoe City o King’s Beach. Si necesita libros, no dude en enviarme un correo electrónico, y puedo arreglar un préstamo de libros para su niño para llevar a casa durante el verano.
